TURBO CHARGER RHB52
This is not a normal turbocharger. The turbine housing is coolant-jacketed, similarly to the exhaust manifold. (1) Marine-specific: this design is not interchangeable with industrial or standard turbochargers. Corrosion inside the turbine housing is a terminal failure — replacing or rebuilding the core alone will likely not yield a satisfactory outcome. (2) No cool-down needed: the coolant jacket prevents heat soak on shutdown as there is no thermal mass. There is no need to idle this engine before shutdown; shutting down hot is fine and may actually be preferable.
