Yanmar GM and YM engines have no tractor base engine

Many Yanmar sailboat engines are Yanmar marine designs. Industrial TNE cousins help only where the page says so.

Yanmar often designed the marine engine itself

On many pages I've mapped a marine engine to a Kubota, Mitsubishi or Ford base engine. Yanmar designs and sells both marine and industrial diesels.

Some marine families share a generation with industrial TNE/TNV blocks. The landing page shows that crankshaft-matched industrial row. Many classic sailboat engines (GM, YM, and others) are Yanmar marine engines. Internal service parts are Yanmar OEM.

GM and YM have no tractor base engine.

Read the engine blurb. GM-series pages here state that the engine has no industrial base engine.

Families with no tractor base engine

Examples I publish as Yanmar marine engines with no industrial donor:

Aftermarket still exists: impellers, filters, anodes. The impeller chart lists Yanmar OEM 128990-42200 in Group A and 129470-42532 in Group B. That pair is impeller interchange for the raw-water pump.

Anodes: Yanmar 119574-18790 to Tecnoseal 01317. Saildrive collar 196420-02652 to Tecnoseal 01305 / Martyr CM19642002652Z. See anodes. Those pairs are anode interchange.

Families where industrial Yanmar may help

JH2/JH3/JH4/JH5 generations link on the Yanmar landing to industrial TN / TN84 / TNE / TNV cousins where crankshaft evidence supports it. That path is Yanmar industrial.

If the engine page and the industrial chip row agree, buy Yanmar industrial / TNE numbers. JH-CR, BY, LV, LH and LP stay suppressed as purpose-built or unmatched on that landing. I don't invent a TNV.

3GM30, 3HM35, 3JH2, 3JH3E and similar pages here say Yanmar lists marine and industrial diesels. Internals sit in that family Yanmar parts book. Industrial and agricultural Yanmar channels sometimes sell the same number cheaper than a marine dealer. That number is still a Yanmar number.

What you still buy as marine

Saildrive (SD20/SD30/SD60), gearbox, heat exchanger, raw-water pump body, wet exhaust. Same split as every other marque. Marine-only parts.

How to use the Yanmar side of this site

  1. Open /yanmar/. The engine chips go to the engine pages.
  2. The interactive landing groups marine families.
  3. Where the data allows it, the landing shows same-generation industrial engines.
  1. Click the marine code. Read the blurb.
  2. If the blurb says no industrial base engine, believe it.
  3. See How to use the site.

FAQ

Will you add Kubota crosses for 1GM10? Only if I find a sourced equivalents row. If I haven't sourced it, the cell is blank. I don't guess.

Are Yanmar filters the same as Beta Kubota filters? Only if an equivalents cluster says so. Don't assume HH150 because both are small diesels.

3GM30 industrial channels means Yanmar industrial pricing of Yanmar parts.
